An American politician has been banned from using the Kalshi platform and fined for insider trading
A political candidate who once ran for governor of California has been banned from using Kalshi for violating insider trading rules. The candidate placed a bet of about $200 on their own chances of winning during the campaign and posted related content on the X platform. Kalshi imposed a five-year ban and a $2,000 fine on them. This description points to Kyle Langford, who is currently running for Congress.
Additionally, a YouTube editor has been banned for two years and fined about $20,000 for conducting market trades of approximately $4,000 using non-public information between August and September 2025. CFTC Chairman Mike Selig stated that the agency has established a Predictive Markets Advisory Committee aimed at collaborating with industry participants to combat insider trading and warned that violators will face legal consequences.
